How it Happened
Luis Kortright scored a career-high 26 points and Rhode Island scored 22 points at the free throw line while knocking off Davidson 79-74 Tuesday night.

The win was the third in a row for the Rams (8-7, 2-0 Atlantic 10).

In a game that featured several runs by both squads, it was URI holding off the host Wildcats (10-5, 0-2 A-10) down the stretch. With 7:51 to go, it was a one-point game after a Bailey Reed layup trimmed Rhody’s lead to 60-59. Kortright converted an old-fashioned three-point play on the next possession to push the lead back to four.

Davidson kept it close, but Rhode Island answered every time. A Tyson Brown layup extended the lead to six at 67-61. From there, it remained at least a four-point lead for the Rams. Kortright iced the game with two free throws to make it 75-67 with 49 seconds to go, helping Rhody win its second straight conference game.
