USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul arrives in Bristol for Fourth of July celebrations

BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — The U.S. Navy’s Freedom-class ship the USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul has docked in Bristol for the town’s annual Fourth of July Celebration.
Sen. Jack Reed announced last month that the ship would dock in in the Narragansett Bay for its stay during the festivities.
The ship has also welcomed community members on board for tours ahead of the festivities.
“Nobody celebrates the Fourth of July quite like Rhode Island and I am grateful to the U.S. Navy for honoring the Ocean State with this special port visit during the extended Fourth of July festivities,” Reed said.
The ship also spent time docked at Naval Station Newport.
Officials said the ship is currently anchored offshore due to the weather.
Bristol’s Fourth of July celebrations will include the annual parade and fireworks show. More information on all the town’s Independence Day events can be found here.
