Victim in Fall River homicide ID’d, investigation continues

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office identified the man who was shot and killed Saturday in Fall River.  

The DA ‘s office said 44-year-old Juan Manuel Batista Castro of Fall River was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after police were called to the home at 326 Banks Street, Saturday at 5:18 p.m. 

Detectives said multiple calls came into 9-1-1 reporting a man had been shot. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the victim dead on the front porch of the home and another man with a minor injury to his hand. 

They were taken to an area hospital for treatment and the cause of their injury is unknown, police said. 

The Bristol County District Attorney’s office said multiple people are being interviewed and no further information can be released. 

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Fall River Major Crimes Division at 508-324-2796. 

ABC 6 News crews on the scene observed police officers closing Bank Street between High Street and Oak Street to investigate. 

Crews also noticed roughly nine evidence markers scattered throughout the crime scene.
