FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — The wife of the New Hampshire man who died after an incident in Foxborough during the New England Patriots-Miami Dolphins game on Sunday says he was attacked.

The incident happened during the fourth quarter just before 11 p.m. in the 300 section of Gillette Stadium.

Lisa Mooney told the ABC affiliate in Boston that her husband, Dale, was being taunted by other fans during the game — leading to a fight where another man allegedly punched him in the head three times.

“It takes a lot to get him mad,” Mooney told WCVB-TV. “He has the patience of a saint. I don’t know what happened.”

Dale was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he died just before midnight.

Massachusetts State Police said Monday that Dale “suffered an apparent medical event.” Mooney told WCVB-TV that to her knowledge, her husband didn’t have any known medical condition.

“I want to know what happened,” Mooney told WCVB-TV. “What caused this?”

Police said they, along with the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office, are investigating the “facts and circumstances of [his] death,” including the events prior to the medical incident.
