Woman convicted in death of infant in 2020 faces sentencing

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Friday morning, the woman found guilty of killing an infant is expected to be sentenced.

Katherine Castaneda is charged with manslaughter in the death of nine-month-old Jayson Flores.

That child was rushed to the hospital from a home in Cranston in December of 2020 after he was found not breathing.

The Department of Children, Youth and Families ruled Flores died as a result of maltreatment.
