3 men arrested after brawls on Block Island plead not guilty

WAKEFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Three men that were arrested after a brawls broke out on Block Island  last week plead not guilty to all charges in court.

Jacob Dorbor, 30, of Providence, Miguel Silva, 36, of Pawtucket and Michael Carvalho, 26, of Providence plead not guilty disorderly conduct charges Wednesday.

All three men are also Superior Court violators, according to court documents.

Dorbor is accused of being involved in a brawl at Ballard’s Beach Resort.

Both Silva and Carvalho are accused of being involved in a fight on the Block Island Ferry.

Video shared with ABC 6 News showed several members of the U.S. Coast Guard jumping onto the ferry. Another video showed at least three men being escorted off the ferry in handcuffs.

According to Rhode Island State Police, the ferry was unscheduled but added last minute due to overcrowding. No troopers were onboard.

Five other people were arrested after the incident:

  • Abdou Njie, 37, of Pawtucket
  • Chevron R. Towns, 20, of Providence
  • Deavon Silva, 20, of Pawtucket
  • Laurie R. Cassandra, 30, of Providence
  • Trent Manning, 32, of Providence

The three men were released on $1,000 personal recognizance. They are set to appear back in court at the end of August.
