‘He’s going to get what’s coming to him,’ says Olivia Passaretti’s step-father after driver pleads not guilty to fatal crash
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — “He’s going to get what’s coming to him,” said Dennis Molloy, Olivia Passaretti’s step-father outside of court on Friday, after a man pleaded not guilty to charges in connection to a fatal New Year’s Day hit-and-run.
Aramis Segura, 30, is accused of driving the car that hit Passaretti’s car off the road in Warwick. Earlier this year, he admitted to driving that night after drinking three beers and smoking marijuana.
Friday, he pleaded not guilty to charges of driving to endanger, death resulting, and leaving the scene of an accident, death resulting.
“He took my light away,” said Janine Passaretti, Olivia’s mother. “He looked me right in my eyes, and I wanted him to see my eyes, and he did.”
“We looked evil straight in the face,” her sister Jackie added. “We looked at the person that was responsible for taking the life of a beautiful girl away.”
Also Friday, Segura’s girlfriend was in court for her involvement in the crash. A grand jury indicted the couple last month.
Alicia Peckham, 25, allegedly picked Segura up in her car after he fled the scene of the crash.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges of leaving the scene of an accident, death resulting, and harboring a criminal.
“Up until today, we feel like she’s just been getting off with everything,” said Dennis.
Both are expected to reappear in court in August.
