PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — The city of Pawtucket postponed the final fireworks show at McCoy Stadium to Sunday, July 16.

City officials decided to change the date of McCoy’s “final inning” amid stormy weather expected Monday.

The change may impact some vendors, performers, and food trucks that signed up to participate in the stadium’s sendoff.

Festivities are still set to begin at 3 p.m. The grand fireworks show will begin at about 9:20 p.m.

The city is looking for volunteers at different times throughout the celebration.

The plan to get a chance to watch the fireworks show on the field remains the same. Wristbands will be handed out on a first come, first serve basis to the first 3,000 people in line starting at 4 p.m.

The wristbands will be limited to one per person. People will not be able to grab extras for people who aren’t in line.

The wristbands and the event itself are free.

McCoy has been empty since 2019. The inside of the stadium, including the seats and boxes, will not be accessible during the celebration.

After it’s proper goodbye, the property is set to be turned into a new high school.
