BOSTON (WLNE)- Governor Charlie Baker submitted a $1 billion supplementary spending bill to the state’s budget Tuesday, in an effort to stem some of the costs incurred by the coronavirus, according to a statement from the governor’s office.

The funds would look to cover expenses such as personal protective equipment, incentive pay for front-line workers, field hospitals, and National Guard pay.

According to the statement, Massachusetts is expected to be reimbursed primarily from funds provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, with other expenses covered by the CARES Act.

Baker said the additional spending would result in “no net loss to the Commonwealth.”
