Carousel Village at Roger Williams Park to reopen Sunday with restrictions

Carousel employees are asking families to be patient as they'll have to be thoroughly clean in-between rides.

PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – Carousel Village at Roger Williams Park will be back open for the 4th of July Weekend for the first time in months.

The carousel will reopen on Sunday at 11 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.

All guests will be asked to wear a mask while practicing social distancing.

But the carousel employees are asking families to be patient as they’ll have to be thoroughly clean in-between rides.

“We just tell the rider, pick a blue horse for this ride, pick a yellow horse for this ride, pick a white horse or pick a red horse,” Ron Patalano of the Roger Williams Park Zoo said. “That’ll get 16 riders on and we’ll get four rides out of that before we have to sanitize the entire carousel.”

Signs will also be displayed to help remind everyone of the safety guidelines.

Tickets are being sold inside the carousel building.
