RIDOH announces 630 new cases of COVID-19; 2 fatalities

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)– The Rhode Island Department of Health announced 630 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday, setting a new record for the daily total in the state.

The department additionally announced 2 fatalities from the virus.

The latest test positivity rate was listed at 3.8 percent.

The state’s weekly average test positivity rate continues to climb, up to 3.3 percent this week from 2.9 percent last week.

There are currently 187 people hospitalized with the virus, with 21 in the Intensive Care Unit and 12 on a ventilator.

As the state’s numbers continue to climb, Gov. Gina Raimondo has issued a new set of advisories and orders set to take effect on Sunday.
