PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Lifespan is expanding it’s vaccination eligibility to those who are immunocompromised.

Clinics run by the hospital group will now accept appointments for residents on a waiting list for a transplant, as well as those who have health conditions that weaken their immune system.

The hospital’s vaccination waste prevention program is now enrolling participants ages 60 and older, along with those with underlying health conditions over the age of 16, Lifespan employees and providers, and Rhode Island Department of Health-approved community providers and their employees will be able to enroll as well.

The hospital group said as RIDOH guidance broadens to include other groups, access to the program will ‘broaden accordingly.’

RIDOH guidelines state those eligible must be a Rhode Island resident, go to school or work in the state, and meet the criteria listed above.

Participants interested in enrolling will be placed on a wait list and must be prepared to come into a clinic on short notice.

“The number of excess doses varies from day to day, depending on appointments and no shows, and participants may be called into multiple clinics before receiving a dose.  Participants who receive a first dose as part of this program will be eligible for a second dose at the appropriate follow-up time,” Lifespan said.

Those who are eligible to participate are asked to enroll here.
