PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Johnson & Wales University announced Tuesday they will require all students to be fully vaccinated prior to their arrival back on campus come fall.

The University said they will consider exceptions from this requirement for medical, religious, or other reasons. Students learning online will not be required to get a COVID-19 vaccine unless they plan on coming to campus to use dining, library, fitness facilities and services.

“Adding the COVID-19 vaccination to our student immunization requirements will aid our efforts to provide a safer and more robust college experience for our entire JWU community,” said JWU Providence Campus President Marie Bernardo-Sousa LP.D.

“Through widespread vaccination, we can work to accelerate the return to a more traditional college experience, including seamless delivery of in-person courses, more on-campus events and activities, and the resumption of our on-campus visitor and guest policy.”
