Antibody testing continues in R.I. at Butler Hospital
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Wednesday was the second day of antibody testing at Butler Hospital.
This is the second round of antibody testing being done in Rhode Island. The state is one of three in the nation chosen for Serology testing efforts.
Dr. Mary Hohenhaus said frontline workers are among those being tested first.
“They’re people who are very likely to have been exposed to the coronavirus. So while everyone else was sheltering in place people with those kinds of jobs were very much out in the community and may have had an infection without any symptoms.” Dr. Hohenhaus said.
An antibody test is conducted by doctors testing your blood to look for antibodies. A standard COVID-19 test is done with a swab.
