Celtics beat Mavericks, take 2-0 lead in NBA Finals

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Boston Celtics pulled out a tight matchup 105-98 over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night.

The Celtics, taking on the Mavericks with a hurting Luka Doncic, put together key plays down the stretch.

The rally started on the defensive end, as Boston forced a turnover at mid-court, getting the ball to Jrue Holiday who pulled up for a major three-point shot.

Holiday had a key performance with 26 points in the game, playing like he wanted another ring.

The Mavs would go on on 9-0 run to get within five, but Derrick White came up with a crucial block, perhaps the play of the game.

Jaylen Brown, followed up on the other end, attacking the basket and putting his team up seven.

That was the dagger, as the Celtics went on the win the matchup and pull within two games of their 18th championship.

Of the 36 teams to go up 2-0 in the NBA Finals in NBA history, 31 have won the series, an 86% hit rate.
