PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – According to the Rhode Island Department of Health, COVID hospitalizations in the state reached 103 on Tuesday, the highest since May 10.

Eighteen of those patients are in the ICU, and six are on a ventilator. There was one additional death Tuesday.

Positive cases continue to rise as well, with 301 new cases reported for Tuesday.

So far, 736,375 Rhode Islanders have received at least one vaccine dose, and 672,228 are fully vaccinated.

These numbers come as the Biden administration recommends that all people start receiving third doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in September, and as school districts in Rhode Island make their final decisions about reopening plans.
