Cranston Democrats announce candidate for Ward 6 seat

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston Democrats on Monday announced their candidate for Ward 6 — a seat that’s been vacant for almost a month after embattled former City Councilman Matthew Reilly resigned.
Maria Bucci, chair of the Cranston Democrats, said Dan Wall will be running for Ward 6, adding that he has an “honorable record of public service.”
Wall led the Cranston School Committee four eight years, serving as chairman for four years.
“Dan will lead with integrity, support strong public safety, fight to protect the quality of life in our neighborhoods, and do everything in his power to keep taxes down,” she said.
So far, Anthony Melillo — a Republican — is the other candidate hoping to replace Reilly.
Reilly submitted his resignation letter on May 18 after he was busted with crack cocaine in his hand while sleeping in his car. Recently, he was arrested in connection to an inappropriate relationship with a 12-year-old girl, who’s not related to him.
