Gov. McKee announces vaccine incentive program that will give grants to non-profits

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Gov. Dan McKee, along with the Rhode Island Commerce Department, the Rhode Island Department of Health, and the Rhode Island Foundation, announced on Tuesday that the state will be giving grants to non-profit organizations throughout the state for every 5,000 residents who receive their first dose of the vaccine.
The budget for the program is $750,000, allowing 75 different non-profits to receive a $10,000 grant.
The grants will be distributed for each increment of 5,000 doses, the first 5,000 will result in 10 grants, the next will result in 12, the third will result in 15, the fourth 18, and the fifth 20.
“I’m really proud of the vaccine incentive program the State and our partners at Rhode Island Foundation have designed,” said Gov. McKee.
Interested non-profits can apply to be a part of the program through the Rhode Island Fund portal starting Tuesday.
Non-profits must submit their applications by July 13 to be eligible for the first round of grants, but can still apply to be a part of the program until July 30.
