Grand opening of Topgolf Rhode Island set for Friday

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — After months of anticipation, Topgolf will open its Rhode Island location this week.

A ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday morning will officially open the venue to the public.

The venue can be seen from Interstate 295, located on Sockanosset Cross Road in Cranston, near the Garden City Center.

It will be the first Topgolf venue to open in New England.

The initial name of the venue, Topgolf Providence, sparked a controversy based on its location. It was later changed to bring recognition to the state rather than either city.
