Independent antiques dealer adapts to business online, RI Antiques Mall set to open Thursday

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – As non-essential retailers are being allowed to reopen, small business owners are getting read to go back to work.

Nancy Van Niel is an independent antiques dealer.

She travels to the area looking for antiques and then she sells them at The Rhode Island Antiques Mall in Pawtucket. In addition she travels to antique sales and sells online.

She says the online business has not completely made up for her in-person sales, but it is starting to pick up.

“I’ve been selling online for 21 years, actually. And I really was prepared that during this period, it would be quite busy. It has not bee as busy as I expected, although in the past 5 days it has been really busy for me.” Van Niel, said.

The Rhode Island Antiques Mall will reopen Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
