Mendon Road closed for rest of this week
CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — Cumberland Mayor Jeff Mutter said that Mendon Road between Ventry Drive and Boardman Avenue will be closed Thursday and Friday for repairs.
The repairs will be in the same area that was closed Monday due to a water main break.
Mutter added that detours will be in place for motorists.

The road was also closed on Tuesday due to water main issues that police said were unrelated to earlier flash flooding.
“I believe it was just its time to go,” Water Superintendent Romeo Mendes said Tuesday. “And so with a water system of this size, with 140 miles of main, it’s not a question of if, it’s just when.”
He added that the main will eventually need to be replaced, but that is for “future capital work” up to 15 years from now.
