New Bedford murder suspect arrested in North Carolina

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE)- The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday that the suspect wanted for the Adilson Neves murder in New Bedford was arrested in North Carolina.

Daquan Blanchard, 24, was arrested by U.S. Marshalls on Tuesday morning in Greenville, where officials found him hiding in a closet inside of a home.

Blanchard is charged with murder and carrying an illegal firearm. He will be arraigned as a fugitive from justice in North Carolina.

“We can all rest a little easier now that the defendant is in custody,” District Attorney Thomas Quinn said.

The murder happened on June 2 on David St. in New Bedford.
