No New COVID Data Updates in Rhode Island Until January 4th

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) will not be providing their daily COVID data reports due to New Years Eve and the New Years Day holiday.

The latest update, provided on Wednesday, included 995 new positive cases and 17 new fatalities.  As of that last report, 426 COVID positive patients were hospitalized in the state.  So far for the week of December 26th, the overall positivity rate was reported at 5.6%, which was down almost a point from the previous week.  New hospital admissions and new cases were also down from last week.

Governor Gina Raimondo has said she would like to see the state get down to or below 5% positivity before loosening current restrictions.

RIDOH will provide it’s next data update on Monday, January 4th.
