Pair indicted in connection to New Years Day crash that killed East Greenwich teen

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A grand jury indicted two people in connection to the crash that killed 17-year old Olivia Passaretti on New Year’s Day.

Attorney General Peter Neronha said Wednesday that 30-year-old Aramis Segura was charged with driving to endanger, death resulting, and leaving the scene of an accident, death resulting.

Neronha said he plans to file a habitual offender notice at Segura’s arraignment, which would subject him to an additional sentence if he is convicted.

Alicia Peckham, 25, was charged with the following:

  • Leaving the scene of an accident, death resulting, as an aider and abettor
  • Harboring a criminal
  • Misprision of a felony
  • Obstructing an officer in execution of their duty

Segura admitted to driving his car on New Year’s Day after drinking three beers and smoking marijuana, during a court hearing in January.

Witnesses said in January that they saw Segura leave the scene of the crash, then return, then leave again.

His girlfriend at the time, Peckham, allegedly picked him up in East Greenwich, after he borrowed someone’s phone and called her.

Rhode Island State Police said Segura was found at his Charlestown home hiding underneath his bed after the crash.

The pair will be arraigned in Kent County Superior Court on July 15.
