Pending lawsuits against North Kingstown school officials on meeting agenda
NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — Pending lawsuits against North Kingstown school officials over the alleged misconduct of former basketball coach Aaron Thomas are on the agenda for Tuesday’s school committee meeting.
Two former North Kingstown High School students and their parents are suing over the handling of alleged “naked fat checks” by Thomas. The students said members of the school committee and the administrators knew the alleged abuse was happening, but did nothing to stop it.
A lawsuit filed in April claims school district leaders ignored or silenced allegations that Thomas conducted those fat checks. A second lawsuit names each member of the school committee, several former administrators, including past superintendents Philip Auger and former athletic director Keith Kenyon.
Thomas was charged with second degree sexual assault and second degree child molestation last week, and denies all allegations against him.
