Police academy cancels graduation, due to COVID-19 outbreak

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE)- A COVID-19 outbreak at the Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy has called for a cancellation of their graduation ceremony.

There has been seven positive COVID-19 test results among 49 recruits of the 20 week academy, according to Maj. Laurie Ludovici.

Ludovici said six of the recruits are asymptomatic and nobody has been hospitalized.

There were only three days left of training before the outbreak.

The police academy canceled the graduation ceremony, but still plans to congratulate these recruits on their achievements.
