PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Providence College announced Thursday it will require full-time undergraduate and graduate students to be fully vaccinated before the upcoming semester.

“Our first imperative is to protect the health and safety if all those in our community, closely followed by our commitment to providing – to the greatest extent possible – the full academic and community Providence College experience to our students,” Rev. Kenneth Sicard, President of the college, wrote in a letter to families.

The college will consider religious and medical exemptions.

The announcement comes after the college’s in-person commencement last week.
