Providence Place Mall Owners Plan Pandemic Santa Options

Not even a pandemic can stop Mr. Claus
Mall Santas

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – You can’t keep a good man down.

Brookfield Properties, which owns Providence Place Mall and over a hundred others, is coming up with options for visiting Santa this year.

They plan to create a “touchless experience”.  No sitting on Santa’s lap. Instead he might be behind a giant picture frame, riding his sleigh, or in a giant snow globe.  He’ll also be wearing a mask.

For any family that doesn’t want to go to the mall, Brookfield says its offering virtual visits with Santa starting November 1.

Brookfield Properties tells ABC 6, this will be offered at Providence Place.  Along with “Sleigh it with Santa,” an interactive 4D experience that takes guests on a virtual adventure. Sitting in Santa’s red sleigh, in front of a green screen, each family can take a digital journey around the world, beginning at the North Pole and ending at Providence Place.  The sleigh moves and shakes throughout the ride, providing a life-like experience.  at the end, families can email themselves their video. The sleigh will be sanitized between each use, of course.

Providence Place’s Santa set will open on November 20th.
