RI reports 885 new cases of COVID-19, 9 deaths over the weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Rhode Island Department of Health reported 885 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday.

Nine more Rhode Islanders died from the virus, bringing the state’s death toll to 2,604.

Out of the 4,528 COVID-19 tests taken on Sunday, the state collected a positivity rate of 4.4%.

Hospitalizations declined 118. Out of those patients, 16 are in ICU and 13 are on a ventilator.

The Department of Health said 302,419 Rhode Islanders have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
