RI surpasses 1M vaccine doses administered, state reports 134 new cases of COVID-19

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Rhode Island reached a milestone of 1,000,000 vaccines administered on Tuesday.

The Department of Health reported 134 new positive cases of COVID-19. Of the 8,071 tests administered Monday, health officials collected a positivity rate of 1.7%.

Additionally, four more Rhode Islanders died after contracting the virus.

There are currently 104 people hospitalized for COVID-19. Of these patients, 17 are in the ICU and 15 are on a ventilator.

Governor Dan McKee encouraged residents to get the vaccine if they have not already.

Additionally, the FDA approved Pfizer’s request to allow their COVID-19 vaccine to be given to kids ages 12 to 15.
