RIDOH reports 1,031 new cases of COVID-19, 24 additional deaths

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Health officials in Rhode Island released the state’s latest COVID-19 statistics on Monday.

The state reported 1,031 new cases of the virus since the last report on Friday. Additionally, 24 more Rhode Islanders have died after contracting COVID-19.

Rhode Island’s death toll now stands at 2,236.

Only 5,088 tests were taken on the prior day, due to the Rhode Island Department of Health closing all state-run testing sites due to the winter storm.

Out of those 5,088 tests, RIDOH reported a positivity rate of 4.1%.

The state saw a decline in hospitalizations, with 241 Rhode Islanders hospitalized. 42 of these patients are in the ICU and 20 are on a ventilator.

The data showed a total of 35,997 Rhode Islanders have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
