RIDOH reports 1,081 new cases of COVID-19, 15 additional fatalities

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island Department of Health released the latest COVID -19 data for the state on Tuesday.

The state reported 1,081 new positive cases of the coronavirus and an additional 15 deaths.

RIDOH said 25,763 people in the state have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. 400 people have been fully vaccinated with their second dose.

Overall, the state said 26,163 doses have been administered thus far.

Out of the 12,292 tests taken the prior day, the state reported a positivity rate of 8.8%.

There are currently 409 Rhode Islanders hospitalized for the virus. 56 of these people are in the ICU and 40 are on a ventilator.

There have been a total of 1,870 fatalities since the beginning of the pandemic.
