Roger Williams University plans to test students for COVID-19 twice a week upon return
BRISTOL, RI (WLNE) – Roger Williams University says they plan to test all students for COVID-19 upon their return to campus in the fall.
Students will be tested twice a week at the beginning of the semester but the University plans to drop that down to once per week after reviewing testing results.
“Our investment into testing is one of the best ways to mitigate and contain any cases of COVID-19 that may arise on campus as early as possible and to fulfill our obligations to the safety and health of our campus community,” the university’s chief of staff Brian Williams said. “While the Broad Institute is our core lab-based partner for testing, RWU is also pursuing additional onsite testing solutions that will enable us to have rapid results on campus and reduce the strain on testing capacity in laboratories.”
All of the COVID-19 tests that will be administered on campus will be free to students, on-campus faculty, and staff throughout the semester.
