Trump announced he tested positive for COVID-19 on Oct. 2.

WASHINGTON (WLNE)- President Donald Trump said he will hold a large rally in Florida on Monday.

The president made the announcement on Twitter Friday afternoon.

The announement follows an ABC News report that Trump is planning to hold an in-person event at the White House on Saturday, according to an ABC News report.

Saturday’s event would be the president’s first public appearance since announcing his positive coronavirus test last Friday.

ABC News said it obtained an invite for the event, which is scheduled to feature “remarks to peaceful protesters for law and order.”

That invite has been “confirmed by two White House sources familiar with the planning,” ABC News said.

Scheduled to take place on the South Lawn, the speaking engagement is reportedly in conjunction with another event organized by conservative activist Candace Owens.

Trump’s personal physician, Dr. Sean Conley, had said in a press release Thursday that with Saturday being the tenth day since the president’s COVID-19 diagnosis, he could begin hosting public events again.

“Based on the trajectory of advanced diagnostics the team has been conducting,” Conley said, “I fully anticipate the president’s safe return to public engagements at that time.”

The news comes after several people that attended an event at the White House two weeks ago to name Amy Coney Barrett as the next Supreme Court nominee have since tested positive, including Trump.
