Unemployment in Rhode Island Rose to 17% in April
2.3% above the national average

CRANSTON, R.I (WLNE) – The RI Department of Labor and Training announced that the unemployment rate hit 17% in April on Thursday.
The national average is 14.7%
According to the DLT, the unemployment rate in Rhode Island was 4.7% in March, and 3.6% in April of 2019.
The number of unemployed Rhode Island residents was up 63,800 over the month according to DLT.
