WORCESTER, Mass. (WLNE) – The Worcester Fire Department honors fallen Lt. Jason Menard on the one-year anniversary of his death.

A 4-alarm fire destroyed a multi-family home on November 13, 2019, and took the life of Lt. Jason Menard.  Menard was helping fellow crew members escape the house fire on Stockholm Street.

Lt. Menard, 39, left behind his wife and their three children.

Worcester Fire Chief, Michael Lavoie shared special words when speaking about Menard in 2019 at a fundraiser to help the Menard family.

“Jason Menard is a hero, in every aspect of the word. We don’t throw that word around lightly in the fire service. Jason Menard is a hero,” said Chief Michael Lavoie.

The Worcester Fire Department honors and remembers Lt. Jason Menard on this same day, one year later.

“Lt. Menard, a true leader to his brothers and sisters at WFD” said Worcester Fire Department in a tweet, “time may pass, but the impact of his sacrifice lives on within our department and the community we serve.”
