Wolfdog hybrid rescue in Ohio renames road after Rhode Island
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — An animal rescue in Ohio that is now home to Libby and Bella, two pups previously presumed to be wild black coyotes in Warwick, is thanking Rhode Island in a special way.
The Red Riding Hood Rescue Project shared a photo on social media of a new street sign posted on their campus, reading: “Rhode Island Rd.”
The rescue specializes in the care of wolfdog hybrids. Staff took in Libby and Bella, now called Wiley and Willow, back in April.
Both pups were on the loose for days after the Warwick Police Department received multiple calls for sightings of them near Oakland Beach.
The dogs’ previous owners have both been charged with animal cruelty, among other charges.
