RIDOH reports 710 new cases of COVID-19, 4 additional deaths

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – On Friday, the Rhode Island Department of Health reported 710 new positive cases of COVID-19 and four additional fatalities.
The number of Rhode Islanders hospitalized for the virus jumped to 250 patients, 27 are in ICU and 14 are on a ventilator, according to RIDOH.
The Health Department reported a 5.2% positivity rate from Thursday.
These numbers come one day after Governor Gina Raimondo held her weekly coronavirus press conference, where she announced that strict restrictions will be put in place ahead of Thanksgiving to help prevent the spread of the virus in the state.
According to Governor Raimondo, only 16% of hospital beds dedicated to COVID-19 patients are available in Rhode Island’s hospitals.
There have been a total of 41,529 positive cases of coronavirus in Rhode Island and 1,254 total fatalities.
